The Women's World Team Championship finished earlier today in Turkey. The Chinese team was steamrolling through the field, before losing to Ukraine in rd 8. They came back to win their final match to finish with 16/18, 3 points ahead of the Russian team. Georgia took third with 12. Finishing with performance ratings over 2600 were Humpy Koneru (IND), Hou Yifan (CHN), and Nana Dzagnidze (GEO).

Five rounds are complete at the Groningen Festival (NED). Alone in 1st place with 4.5 is 18 year old Ukranian GM Yaroslav Zherebukh, who made a big impression at the World Cup this year. Among those tied for second are Robert Hess (USA) and Sergei Tiviakov (NED).

Reggio Emelia (ITA) moves into the Super GM category this year with a 6 player DRR. Competing are Vassily Ivanchuk (UKR), Alexander Morozevich (RUS), Hikaru Nakamura (USA), Nikita Vitugov (RUS), Anish Giri (NED), and Fabiano Caruana (ITA). Play starts today.
