WYCC Update

The WYCC started last Fri., Nov. 18 ( Rd. 1 ) and runs to Nov. 26 ( Rd. 9 ). It is being played in Caldas Novas, Brazil. Canada sent 40 juniors. Rd. 6 was played yesterday. Here are the 4 Canadian team members in the top ranks:

The CFC Regular Chess Post – Nov. 22/11 – WYCC Update.

The WYCC is being played in Caldas Novas, Brazil. Rd. 1 started Nov. 18; 4 rds. have now been completed; rd. 5 is today; it runs to Nov. 26 ( Rd. 9 ). The Canadian WYCC Team has 82½ out of a possible 160, so 52%. John Coleman has reported the Round by round results: rd. 1 - 14 points; rd. 2 - 15 points; rd. 3 -19; and rd. 4 - 22. In the top ranks are:

Olivier-Kenta Chiku-Ratte ( U 12 Open – Can. Champion ) with 4 points, in first place alone;
Qiyu Zhou ( U 12 Girls ) with 3 ½ pts., in 5th;
Sergey Noritsyn ( U 8 Open – Can. Champion ) with 3 ½ pts., in 7th place;
Michael Song ( U 12 Open ), with 3 ½ pts., in 8th;
Richard Wang ( U 14 Open – Can. Champion ) with 3½ points, in 11th.

Another 6 players have 3 points.

Dates: November 19-20;
Place: Calgary Chess Club, #274 3359 27th St. NE;
Organizer & TD: Tony Ficzere;
Type: 5 round swiss, CFC & FIDE Rated;
Prizes: 1st place qualifies to the 2012 Alberta Closed (if an Albertan). If there is a tie for 1st, Alberta tie-breaks will be used to determine the qualifying spot (first step on the road to the World Championship!);
;Winners: Dan Kazmaier who was undefeated, going 5/0 to claim 1st prize and qualifies to the 2012 Alberta Closed. Dale Haessel tied for 2-3rd along with Martin Robichaud, with 4/5.
