The CFC Regular Chess Post – April 29/13 – Fund-raising Simul - Hambleton.

Yesterday, April 28, Seneca Hill Chess Club (Corinna Wan) held a fund-raiser at Oriole CC for IM Aman Hambleton. He was invited to give a 30 board Simultaneous Exhibition. Aman won all 30 boards in 2 hours 15 minutes.

The total raised was $652 and Seneca Hill Chess Club topped up the amount to $800, which was then presented to Aman, to help cover his tournament expenses coming up when he goes to Bolivia for the Americas Continental Championship. Aman has this to say about this tournament on his website ( ):

“May 7, 2013 – May 15, 2013
…..taking place in Cochabamba, Bolivia. The tournament is an 11 round swiss, with a $5000 first prize and 4 World Cup spots awarded to the top-4 finishers in the tournament. The World Cup 2013 is held in Tromso, Norway – a highly competitive 64 player knockout tournament. Arrival to the tournament is the 6th of May, and departure on the 16th. Also, IM and GM norms count as double!”

Oriole is looking forward to his third Simul when he becomes a GM!! (He was an FM when he came last June for his first simul.)
