Best of the Web: week 15

Hi everyone,

It's been a while!

Let's kick-off this week's batch of suggestion with a recommendation from NM Keith MacKinnon. If your chess visualization needs some work, you might be interested in having a look at this webpage. You can try the demo version of the product for free. I just gave it a shot, and it looks pretty good!

Next, Félix pointed out some interesting chess news was being shared on Chesstalk, a forum where you can find the latest information about what's happening on the Canadian chess scene and around the world. Here's a recent article about Magnus Carlsen I found on Chesstalk, for instance.

Speaking of Carlsen, the World Chess Championship is coming up soon, from November 9th to 28th, featuring defending champion Viswanathan Anand against Magnus Carlsen, the highest rated player in the world. The match will take place on Anand's home turf, in Chennai (India). Here is the event's official website. You can also read a preview of the event on Susan Polgar's blog, and watch a series of Youtube videos in which GM Daniel King goes through some of the past encounters of these two incredible players!

Finally, I'd like to recommend the downloads page of You can find a lot of free material, including books, software, databases etc.

See you soon!
