2017 Zonal Games: Rd.3 Le Siege - Noritsyn

The 2017 Canadian Championship (Zonal 2.2) runs June 27-July 1 at Olympic Stadium in Montréal. 

The 2017 Canadian Championship is a 9-round Swiss with the top prize being:

  • the 2017 National Championship
  • qualification to the 2017 FIDE World Cup with air fare
  • $1,500 
  • $1,000 CFC subsidy for the 2018 Continental
  • FIDE IM Title

Current Standings


IM Nikolay Noritsyn leads with 5/5. In rounds 3-5 he beat Le Siege, Sambuev (both times with Black) then Hambleton to take a full point lead ahead of Sambuev and FM Shiyam Thavandiran, who beat LeSiege in round 5.

Alex had been playing with an infected tooth, and withdrew after his loss to Thavandiran.
